information for parents & Guardians

REGISTRATION

A non-refundable annual registration fee of $25 per family is required to help us cover insurance and teacher administrative time. Rates are per child and are prorated for the entire year in order to make payment easier.

Withdrawing from the Center

Please inform the teacher if you wish to withdraw from the program.  One months notice is required to withdraw part way through the school year.

Payment of Fees

Fees are due on the first of each month for the following month. It is preferred that fees be paid by automatic debit through your Northern Savings Credit Union account. Our name is Queen Charlotte Child Center Society. The member's number is #109108. Parents can initiate that process themselves at the bank. You can also pay by inter-member bank transfer, Etransfer, or cheque by the 1st of each month.  A late fee for $25 will be charged if the payment is not in by the 10th of the month.  **Please simply notify the lead teacher if you are unable to pay your fees.

SUBSIDY

Most families are eligiable to have their feeds subsidized by the Affordable Child Care Benefit. If your family income is less than $111,000/year  you are encouraged to apply. Please request a Child Care Arrangement Form from your child care provider, and contact Jenna Inglis at Haida Gwaii Child Care Resource and Referral Program at 250-559-4711 or via email at ccrrfamilyresource@islandswellnesssociety.com for assistance.

your Responsibilities

Parents are responsible for supplying their children with appropriate clothing (spare change, rain gear, inside shoes), food (healthy options please) and supplies (diapers/wipes if needed) during their time at Playschool.

Parents are also responsible for picking their child up on time at the end of class (12:15). There will be a charge if children are picked up late

A parent contract must be signed on your child’s first day committing to your monthly FEES.

.You ARE responsible to attend the annual AGM to ensure your feedback is heard and the program continues to thrive.

Discipline & Boundaries

Clear and consistent boundaries, rules and positive reinforcement is the key to a safe, happy, healthy play environment. Children will be offered choices or re-direction if there is conflict. Disputes will be settled with children as quickly as possible with respect for all parties involved and as much child input as possible. Under no circumstances will children be humiliated, neglected, isolated, hit, slapped or kicked. Children will not be deprived of food. The preschool does not use time-out.

Reporting Suspected Abuse or Neglect

By law, the center is required to report any suspicions of child abuse or neglect to the Ministry of Children and Families. The center does not investigate or question a child's allegations. The center does not inform a parent if their child makes a statement of suspected abuse or neglect.

Peanut Free Zone

We have a child who has a peanut allergy. The Preschool Teacher carries and EpiPen on her when the child is in the center.

Emergency Procedures for Earthquakes, Fire & Tsunami

These procedures are posted on the walls at the center. Please take the time to read them. The children practice fire drills once a month.

A note on pick up & drop off times: We ask that parents/guardians pick up and drop off children in a timely manner. If you are 10 minutes late to pick up, we charge a fee of $5.  We charge a fee of $10 if you're 20 minutes late.  Late fees are payable to the teacher on duty at the time of pickup.
